Diani’s Hat-Trick Powers France to 6-3 Win over Panama
Sydney, Australia (June 29, 2023): Kadidiatou Diani scored a hat-trick to lead France to a 6-3 victory over Panama in Wednesday’s FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Diani opened the scoring in the 21st minute, but Marta Cox equalized for Panama two minutes later. Diani then scored two more goals in the first half, both from the penalty spot, to give France a 3-1 lead at halftime.
Lia Li Garek and Vicky Beko added goals in the second half for France, while Lineth Sidino and Yomira Pinzon scored for Panama.
The win gave France seven points in three games, good enough to win Group F. Panama finished last with no points.
France will now face the runner-up of Group G in the Round of 16 on Saturday.
Other Results
In other matches on Wednesday, Jamaica made a place in the last 16 as runners-up by holding Brazil to a goalless draw. Sweden defeated Argentina 2-0, and South Africa defeated Italy 3-2.
