Colombia Tops Group H, Morocco Advances as Runner-Up
Colombia suffered its first defeat of the FIFA Women’s World Cup on Thursday but finished top of Group H after a 1-0 loss to Morocco.
The match’s only goal came in the first half when Nisa Lahmari converted a penalty for Morocco. Colombia goalkeeper Catalina Perez saved Ghizlen Chebak’s initial shot, but a defender blocked Sakina Ozraoui’s rebound, and Lahmari was on hand to tap in the rebound.
The result means that Colombia finished top of the group with six points, while Morocco advanced as the runner-up with the same number of points but a better goal difference.
Colombia will face Jamaica in the round of 16, while Morocco will face France.
