Spain put on a dominant display to crush Switzerland 5-1 and reach the FIFA Women’s World Cup quarterfinals. The win was Spain’s third in four matches in the tournament, and it came convincingly.

Aitana Bonmati scored two goals for Spain, while Alba Redondo, Laia Codina, and Jennifer Hermoso also found the net. 

Codina’s goal was particularly memorable, as she scored her own goal in the first half but then redeemed herself with a goal in the second half.The win was a statement of intent from Spain, now one of the favourites to win the tournament. They have a strong squad with a wealth of talent and have shown they can score goals in bunches.

Spain will face the winner of the match between the Netherlands and Canada in the quarterfinals. The game will be played on August 10 in Sydney, Australia.
