Inter Miami Crush Charlotte FC to Reach Leagues Cup Semifinals
Inter Miami continued their impressive form in the Leagues Cup on Friday, crushing Charlotte FC 4-0 at home. Lionel Messi scored his fifth goal in five games for Miami, and Joseph Martinez, Robert Taylor, and Adilson Malanda scored.
Josef scored in the 12th minute, converting a penalty after he was fouled in the box. Taylor doubled Miami’s lead in the 32nd minute, finishing off a DeAndre Yedlin pass. Malanda then scored an own goal in the 78th minute, and Messi added a fourth goal in the 86th minute.
The win puts Miami into the semifinals of the Leagues Cup, where they will face the winner of the Philadelphia Union-Queretaro quarterfinal. Nashville SC also advanced to the semifinals, defeating Minnesota United 5-0. They will face the winner of the LAFC-Monterey quarterfinal.
