Chitwan FC Unveils Bishal as Marquee Player for NSL’s Second Edition
In the exciting buildup to the second edition of the Nepal Super League (NSL), Chitwan FC has signed significantly by bringing goalkeeper Bishal Shrestha on board as their marquee player.
This announcement was made with much fanfare on Tuesday, as the club took to social media to share the news of Bishal’s acquisition as a marquee player. In the previous edition of NSL, Bharat Khawas held this prestigious role for Chitwan.
Bishal Shrestha, contracted as a marquee player for the Butwal-Lumbini in the first edition, brings a wealth of experience from playing in the top division with Machhindra Football Club. Last season, Butwal-Lumbini secured the fourth position, while Chitwan FC struggled, finishing at the bottom of the table.
The NSL action is set to kick off on November 24th, with the opening match featuring Kathmandu Razors and Sporting Ilam FC. The tournament is slated to culminate with the final match on December 30th.
It’s worth noting that the organizers, Nepal Sports and Event Management Pvt Ltd, had initially selected the players for ten teams but needed more time to organize the NSL. Consequently, many draft players have moved abroad, prompting the organizers to conduct a fresh auction on October 5th.
This time, nine teams will compete in the second edition, as Biratnagar City FC, which participated last season, has withdrawn. The lineup includes last year’s champions, Kathmandu, runners-up Dhangadhi FC, FC Chitwan, Pokhara Thunders, Lalitpur City FC, Butwal-Lumbini FC, along with new entrants Ilam FC, Birgunj United FC, and Jhapa FC, promising a thrilling NSL season ahead.
