Barcelona Held to 2-2 Draw Against Mallorca
Barcelona should have capitalized on the opportunity to extend their lead at the top of the Spanish La Liga table, as Mallorca held them to a 2-2 draw on Tuesday night.
The Blaugrana fell behind twice at the Son Moix stadium but returned on both occasions to salvage a point.
Barcelona took the lead in the 8th minute through Rafinha, but Mallorca equalized three minutes later through Bedat Muriki.
Abdon Prats then put the home side ahead in the first half injury time, but Barcelona equalized again in the 75th minute through Ferran Lopez.
The draw leaves Barcelona at the table with 17 points from seven games, but they are just one point ahead of Girona and Real Madrid.
Mallorca Impress Against Barcelona
Mallorca put in a spirited performance against Barcelona and were unlucky not to come away with the win.
The home side played with a lot of energy and enthusiasm, and they caused Barcelona problems throughout the game.
Mallorca’s goalscorers, Muriki and Prats, were both excellent on the night and constantly threatened the Barcelona defence.
Barcelona Need to Improve
Barcelona will need to improve their performances if they want to stay top of the La Liga table.
The Blaugrana have drawn two of their last three games and looked vulnerable on the counter-attack.
Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez will need to find a way to get his team to defend better, and he will also need to find a way to get more goals from his forwards.
