KCMIT Upsets Liverpool College in Thrilling Day Opener

KCMIT pulled off a stunning upset in the ongoing Apex ICC Cup 2023 match, defeating Liverpool Intl College by 21 runs.

Liverpool won the toss and elected to bowl first, but KCMIT’s batters showed great calmness and composure to post a decent total of 132/9. Bishal Kunwar top-scored with 38 runs, while Subash Sapkota and Amit Kumar added 26 and 23 runs respectively. Liverpool bowler Chunchun Babu Yadav grabbed three wickets, but it was not enough to prevent KCMIT from setting a challenging target.

In reply, Liverpool’s batting line-up collapsed as they were bowled out for 111 runs. Abhishek Yadav showed some brilliant hitting ability with the bat, scoring 31 runs in just 15 balls, but the rest of the batters could have contributed more. KCMIT bowler Nezam Kawari’s fierce bowling troubled the Liverpool batters, as he picked up three wickets in four overs.

KCMIT’s Bishal Kunwar was adjudged the Man of the Match for his match-winning batting performance.

Kathmandu University Thrashes Thames College in Second Match

Kathmandu University thrashed Thames College by ten wickets in the day’s second match.

Thames won the toss and chose to bat first, but their innings was bundled out for just 60 runs in 19.4 overs. Shaswat Poudel from Kathmandu University was the wrecker-in-chief, taking five wickets for just ten runs in 3.4 overs. Shital Neupane also provided good support, picking up three wickets for five runs in four overs.

In reply, Kathmandu University chased the target in just eight overs, losing two wickets. Sushant Poudel remained unbeaten on 21 runs, while Shaswat Poudel chipped in with ten runs. Shaswat Poudel was adjudged the Man of the Match for his brilliant bowling performance.

The Apex ICC Cup 2023 is a T20 cricket tournament featuring some of the top college teams in Nepal. The game will run from September 24 to October 10, 2023.
