Pakistan Dominates Netherlands to Start ICC ODI World Cup
On Friday, Pakistan got off to a dominant start in the ICC ODI World Cup with a comfortable 81-run win against the Netherlands at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad.
Chasing a target of 287 runs, the Netherlands were bowled out for 205 in 41 overs. Bas de Leede was the top scorer for the Dutch with a 67 off 68 balls, but he lacked support from his teammates. Bikramjit Singh (52) and Logan van Beek (28 not out) were the only other batsmen to score over 20 runs.
Haris Rauf picked the three wickets, while Hassan Ali and Shaheen Shah Afridi took two each.
Earlier, Pakistan had posted 286 runs after being invited to bat first. Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan were the stars of the show for Pakistan, putting on a 120-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Shakeel scored 68 off 52 balls, while Rizwan hit 68 off 75.
Mohammad Nawaz also chipped in with a valuable 29, while Shadab Khan scored 32. Bas de Leede was again the pick of the Dutch bowlers with four wickets, while Colin Ackerman took two.
