Nepal Cricket Team Appoints Indu Burma as New Captain.
Kathmandu, November 9, 2023: The Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) has announced that Indu Burma will be the new captain of the Nepalese women’s cricket team for the upcoming four-nation Women’s Twenty20 International Series set to take place in Hong Kong from November 29 to December 3.
Burma, who previously served as the team’s vice-captain, takes over the leadership reins from Rubina Chhetri, who has been omitted from the squad for the series. Bindu Rawal has been appointed as the new vice-captain.
CAN’s decision to elevate Burma to the captaincy position reflects a fresh leadership approach for the team. The 25-year-old is a versatile all-rounder who has consistently performed for Nepal in recent years.
The Nepalese team will commence their campaign in the four-nation series by facing Tanzania in the opening match on November 29, followed by encounters with host Hong Kong on November 30 and Japan on December 2.
The top two performing teams will lock horns for the ultimate championship title, while the remaining two will fiercely compete for the third-place spot.
The Nepalese team, led by Indu Burma, will include notable players such as Sita Rana Magar, Khushi Dangol, Bindu Rawal (vice-captain), Somu Bishta, Sangeeta Rai, Kanchan Shrestha, Soni Pakhrin, Pooja Mahato, Roma Thapa, Kajol Shrestha, Samjhana Khadka, and Ruby Podar.
The team’s selection has generated a sense of excitement and anticipation among cricket enthusiasts nationwide, as they look forward to seeing the team perform under the leadership of Indu Burma.
