Bhadrapur, Nepal: The 1st edition of the inter-municipal district-level football tournament witnessed electrifying action as Buddhashanti Rural Municipality, spearheaded by the unstoppable Babin Bohora, stormed into the semi-finals. Bohora, the ultimate showman, weaved his magic with four clinical strikes, leaving Shivasatakshi gasping for breath in a dominant 4-0 triumph.
Bohora’s first goal arrived early, a precise finish in the 11th minute setting the tone for a relentless Buddhashanti assault. He doubled the lead just before halftime, silencing any hopes of a Shivasatakshi comeback. The second half was pure Bohora brilliance, as he slammed home two more goals in the 66th and 79th minutes, completing a remarkable individual performance.
His exploits earned him the “Player of the Match” title, a cash prize 2000 and a glittering trophy. General Secretary of Gold Cup Jiwan Kumar Shrestha, Shivasatakshi Mayor Megahang Thopra, and Buddhashanti Rural Municipality President Manoj Prasain showered accolades on the four-goal hero.
The day’s drama didn’t end there. In a nail-biter of a contest, Jhapa Rural Municipality edged past Bhadrapur Municipality 1-0. The match hung in the balance until Kiran Urau broke the deadlock with a moment of magic in the 71st minute. His strike sent Jhapa into the last four, while Umesh Murmu from the winning side bagged the “Player of the Match” award and a hefty 2000 cash prize. Gold Cup President Dipesh Dhakal and industrialist Hom Pandey presented the trophy and the cash to the jubilant Murmu.
The anticipation is palpable with the semi-final clash between Jhapa and Buddhashanti set for December 8. The organizers, led by the ever-enthusiastic Dipesh Dhakal, have confirmed that the third quarter-final between Arjundhara Municipality and Birtamod Municipality will be held on December 9. The final quarter-final will witness Mechinagar Municipality locking horns with Gauradah Municipality.
As the tournament enters its decisive stages, the stakes are rising. The eventual champions will not only etch their name in history but also walk away with a staggering cash prize of 3 lakh rupees, a trophy, medals, and certificates. The runners-up will also be handsomely rewarded, receiving 2 lakh rupees and similar accolades.
