Koshi Roars with Dominant 10-Wicket Win in PM Cup Opener
(Kathmandu, Nepal) – The Koshi province sent a resounding statement today at the Mulpani Cricket Ground (upper), crushing Karnali Pradesh by 10 wickets in their opening match of the Prime Minister’s Cup Women’s Twenty20 National Cricket Tournament.
Koshi’s ruthless chase exposed Karnali’s fragile batting, skittling them for a meagre 33 runs in 16 overs. No Karnali batter reached double figures, highlighting the dominance of Koshi’s bowling attack. Apsari Begam led the charge with a fiery spell of 3-12, while Alisha Khadia (2-10) and a quartet of one-wicket wonders – Sabnam Rai, Nisha Shah, and captain Rubina Chhetri – dismantled Karnali’s innings piece by piece.
Chhetri, who won the toss and elected to field, then led by example with the bat, carving out an unbeaten 25 runs to spearhead Koshi’s clinical chase. Kajol Shrestha offered support with her 5* as Koshi reached the target in a mere 3.1 overs, not a single wicket lost.
This comprehensive victory sets the tone for Koshi’s ambitions in the tournament. Their potent bowling attack, spearheaded by Begum and Khadia, sent a warning shot to the other contenders, while the clinical finishing of Chhetri and Shrestha showcased their composure under pressure.
