Gandaki Triumphs Over Karnali in Prime Minister’s Cup Women’s T20
Gandaki Province finally found their fangs in the Prime Minister’s Cup Women’s T20, roaring past Karnali Province with a convincing 44 runs at the Mulpani Cricket Ground. After tasting defeat in their opening encounter, Gandaki put on a clinical display of batting and bowling to secure their first points and leave Karnali winless after two matches.
Set a target of 140, Karnali’s chase sputtered right from the start. Wickets tumbled regularly, and despite valiant efforts from Gauri Bohra, Yamuna Tharu, and Tirsna Bishwakarma, they could only muster 97 runs, falling well short of the victory line.
Earlier, Gandaki skipper Anjali Bishwakarma led by example, smashing a fiery 51 to anchor the innings. Jyotsnika Marasini provided excellent support with a well-crafted 50, and the duo’s 80-run partnership formed the backbone of Gandaki’s 141-run total. Suman Khatiwada chipped in with a quick 22 as Gandaki posted a challenging score despite losing six wickets.
Rachna Chaudhary emerged as the pick of the Gandaki bowlers, snaring two wickets. Marasini and Khatiwada picked up one apiece, while Karnali’s Yamuna Tharu and Anju Gurung also claimed two wickets each.
With this win, Gandaki has put their opening game loss to Lumbini behind them and sent a strong message to the rest of the competition. Karnali, however, found themselves under early pressure after two consecutive defeats.
