Late Drama Unfolds as Butwal Lumbini FC Clinches Victory over Birgunj
Kathmandu. Bootball Lumbini FC won a tough 1-0 win over Birganj United in the second edition of the Nepal Super League (NSL) match.
Chandan Kumar Das scored the decisive goal to win the football at the Dasharath Stadium in Tripureshwar on Saturday.
Butwal Lumbini’s journey ended happily with the win, and they added 10 points in seven games. With the defeat, Birgunj is out of the playoff race. Birgunj added eight points in the exact match.
In the 36th minute, a shot from outside the box by football captain Eric Bista was well saved by Birgunj goalkeeper Deep Karki by diving to the left.
In the 55th minute, the iconic Ashish Lama’s shot hit the bar and was caught by Birganj’s goalkeeper, Deep. In the subsequent move, Birganj’s substitute player Sunil Khadka’s shot bounced off the pole and was cleared by Butwal’s goalkeeper Mohamdu.
In the 77th minute, Deep saved Eric’s shot. Butwal took the lead through Chandan’s goal in injury time. Chandan beat the ball provided by Eric Bist past Birgunj goalkeeper Deep and scored.
