Kirtipur, Nepal: The TU Cricket Ground witnessed a dominant display of power from Sudurpaschim Province as they bulldozed through Bagmati Province by nine wickets in the eliminator of the Prime Minister’s Cup Women’s T20 National Cricket Tournament. This emphatic victory secures them a thrilling showdown against Koshi Pradesh in the second qualifier, where they’ll fight for a coveted spot in the final.
Bagmati Falters, Sudurpaschim Bowlers Feast:
Winning the toss and opting to bat, Bagmati faced a relentless Sudurpaschim bowling attack. Their batters crumbled under pressure, surrendering all ten wickets within 19 overs and setting a meagre target of 100 runs. Kanchan Shrestha valiantly held the innings together with a top score of 36. At the same time, Soni Pakhrin (14) and flashes of resistance from Helisha Gurung and Khushi Dangol (10 runs each) couldn’t prevent the collapse. Sudurpaschim’s bowling unit, spearheaded by the magnificent Karihsma Thapa with three wickets, was clinical in dismantling Bagmati’s batting lineup. Lakshmi Saud and skipper Ritu Kanojia chipped in with vital wickets, restricting Bagmati to a paltry 99.
Bindu Blitz Leads Sudurpaschim to Elusive Chase:
Chasing a modest target, Sudurpaschim made light work of the Bagmati bowling. Losing just one wicket in 14.3 overs, they cruised to victory easily. The opening bat, Bindu Rawal, was in imperious form, carving out an unbeaten 54 runs off 49 deliveries, adorned with seven scintillating fours. Samjhana Khadka provided valuable support with an unbeaten 21, while Ruby Podar chipped in with a valuable 18. The partnership between Bindu and Samjhana proved decisive, stitching together an unbroken 57-run stand for the second wicket and extinguishing any remaining Bagmati hopes. Manisha Upadhyay managed the only Bagmati wicket, but it was a mere consolation amidst the Sudurpaschim onslaught.
