Nepal’s Goal machine ‘Samba’ Signs with French Club!

Nepal’s National Women’s Football Team goal machine, Sabitra Bhandari, affectionately known as Samba, is set to grace the top-division league in France.

En Avant Guingamp, a prominent French club, has secured Sabitra’s talents for the remainder of the current season and the following, marking a significant milestone in her career. The club made the announcement official through a heartfelt video message.

Sabitra embarked on her journey to France on January 29th after finalizing the contract with En Avant Guingamp. The club currently holds the 10th position in the league table, amassing 8 points from 12 matches. With ten games left in the season, the club aims to climb higher and secure its position in the league.

This move signifies Sabitra’s second significant achievement within a year, following her historic entry into Europe’s top division earlier in the season. Previously, Sabitra showcased her skills in the Israeli domestic league, playing for Hapoel Ranana.

Despite the interruption caused by the conflict between Palestine and Israel, Sabitra’s determination never wavered. She has taken another significant step forward in her career in just four months.

With an outstanding international record of 43 goals, Sabitra continues to shine on the field, representing the departmental team APF in domestic football. Despite the challenges posed by the unpredictable nature of domestic leagues, Sabitra remains undeterred, consistently achieving remarkable success.

Her journey extends beyond Nepal’s borders, as Sabitra has left an indelible mark in the Indian league as well. From her memorable stint with Sethu FC in the 2018-19 season to her impactful performances with Gokulam Kerala, Sabitra’s talent and dedication have earned her widespread acclaim.

Despite facing adversity, including a year-long hiatus due to a knee injury, Sabitra’s remarkable performances have garnered the attention of European clubs, underscoring her status as a star in women’s football.
