Nepal Dominates Hong Kong in Commanding Eight-Wicket Win
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: Nepal kicked off their campaign in the inaugural ACC Women’s Premier Cup with an eight-wicket victory over Hong Kong. Chasing a modest target of 94, the Nepali batters cruised to victory in 14.1 overs.
Openers Stumble, Barma and Ranamagr Lead the Charge: Hong Kong struggled early, posting a below-par 93/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Despite some resistance from Chan Ka Ying Carey (21), Maryam Bibi (19), and Yasmin Daswani (15), Nepal’s bowlers, led by Pooja Mahato and Rubina Chhetri (both with 2 wickets), kept them in check.
Nepal Chase with Authority: In reply, Nepal lost opener Kabita Kunwar early, but captain Indu Burma (40 off 33) and Sita Ranamagr (36 off 38) took control with a dominant 76-run partnership for the second wicket. Barma showcased her power with three boundaries and a six, while Ranamagr ensured the chase never stuttered. Hong Kong bowlers Iqra Sahar and Chan Betty picked up a wicket each, but it was a mere consolation.
