The energy is palpable in Birtamod, Jhapa, as the Nepal Sports Journalist Forum Jhapa (NSJF Jhapa) prepares to host the 5th edition of its prestigious NSJF Jhapa Sports Award. Mark your calendars for Thursday, Chaitra 29th, because this night will be a dazzling display of local sporting talent.

Since its inception in 2073, the NSJF Jhapa Sports Award has established itself as a cornerstone event, recognizing and celebrating the outstanding achievements of Jhapa’s athletes and coaches. As Chiranjibi Ghimire, the forum’s secretary, announced at a recent press conference, this year’s ceremony promises to be even grander.

The awards will honor local talents and recognize national and international figures who have excelled in the sporting arena throughout 2079. Notably, the event pays remarkable homage to the late footballer Ashish Bikram Nembang, solidifying its significance within the local sports community.

Seven coveted awards will be presented across various categories: Best Male Player, Best Female Player, Best Young Player, Best Coach, People’s Choice, Special Achievement, Lifetime Achievement, and a brand new addition this year – Best Sports Journalist. The People’s Choice award, which is decided by the audience, underscores the crucial role sports fans play in recognizing athletic achievements.

The wait for nominations is almost over, with the player selection committee diligently working behind the scenes. Nominations for the Special Achievement, Lifetime Achievement, and Best Sports Journalist awards have been received, and the names will be revealed on the grand night itself. Anticipation is building for the other categories as well.
