Windies A Team Flexes Muscle, Takes 3-1 Series Lead Over Nepal in T20 Tussle

A clinical display with bat and ball propelled the West Indies A team to a comprehensive 28-run victory over Nepal in the fourth T20 clash at the scenic TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. The match was filled with key moments, such as Andre Fletcher’s unbeaten 84 runs, Johnson Charles’ well-made fifty, and the Windies’ exceptional bowling attack. This dominant win puts the Windies firmly in the driver’s seat, leading the five-match series 3-1.

The encounter was a microcosm of the series itself – fiercely competitive. Nepal, who had stunned the Windies with a four-wicket win in the opener, was chasing a stiff target of 210 runs. Captain Rohit Paudel (82 runs) stood tall with a fighting knock, ably supported by cameos from Gulshan Jha (19 runs) and Dipendra Singh Airee (19 runs). However, the Windies bowling attack, spearheaded by the fiery Mayu Ford (3 wickets) and Hayden Walls (3 wickets), proved too strong, dismissing all Nepali batsmen to restrict them to 181 runs.

The Windies posted a daunting total on the board earlier, opting to bat first. Andre Fletcher, the experienced opener, anchored the innings with an unbeaten 84 runs, while Johnson Charles chipped in with a well-made fifty.  Crucially, Fletcher stitched together crucial partnerships, particularly with Charles and Enal, to propel the Windies to a strong position.

This win not only underlines the depth of the Windies A squad but also their consistent performance throughout the series. Their bowlers, particularly Ford and Walls, have been the backbone of the team, displaying exceptional control and accuracy. The batting, led by Fletcher’s experience and Charles’ aggression, has consistently showcased a well-oiled unit, with contributions from the middle order as well.

With the series captured by Indies, all eyes turn to Saturday’s fifth and final match. Can Nepal pull off another upset, or will the Windies A team complete a dominant series victory with 4-1? The stage is set for another enthralling encounter in Kathmandu.
