Historic Upset: USA Stuns Pakistan in Thrilling Super Over Finish

Against all odds, former ICC Twenty20 World Cup champions Pakistan fell to the USA in a deathly Super Over finish. The match on Thursday night against Group ‘A’ ended 1–1, leading to the so-called Super Over.

The USA faced a steep asking rate of 19 runs in the Super Over. In reply, Pakistan could score only 13, thus giving the USA the most memorable victory of the tournament. This outstanding achievement culminated in the USA’s recent successes after a series win against Bangladesh.

In the eleventh match of the World Cup, Pakistan was asked to bat first after they lost the toss and were able to make 160/7 in 20 overs. The USA responded to this with equal force and got to 160 for three in 20 overs, leading to the Super Over.

Mayank Patel, the captain of the USA team, played a pivotal role in their victory with a brilliant innings of 50 off 38 balls. Aaron Jones and Andres Gaus also made notable contributions, scoring 36 and 35 runs, respectively.

In this game, Babar Azam, the captain of the Pakistani team, was the highest scorer with 44 runs off 43 balls. Sadad Khan displayed an impressive strike rate with 40 runs off 25 balls, while Shaheen Shah Afridi contributed 23 valuable runs.

This recent triumph over Pakistan underscores the USA’s progress as a cricketing nation, cementing its status as an up-and-coming powerhouse in international cricket.
