Euro 2024: Azzurri Claw Back for Dramatic Opener Win
Champions of Euro began their trophy retention campaign with a pulsating victory over Albania on Saturday night. This match took place pulsatingly at Iduna Park, and Italy came from behind to win with a score of 2-1, which was essential for them.
Despite a surprising start by the underdog Albanian team, who managed to score a goal through Nedim Bajrami, the Italian team refused to back down. The Azzurri, displaying the same fighting spirit that led them to victory in 2020, fought back with all their might.
There was an early twist when Alessandro Bastoni balanced things up for Inter Milan in the 11th minute of the game before Niccolò Barella scored a fantastic goal in the 16th minute to give Inter Milan the victory. The sweet sound of Santi Cazorla’s equaliser brought relief and happiness to every Italian fan sitting in the stands.
Italy will face Spain on June 21. Croatia and Albania are scheduled to play on June 19.
