“Madhesh start with win”
Madhesh Pradesh starts strongly with a 22-run win over Koshi in the Naresh Shrestha Memorial U-19 National Cricket Tournament.
Chasing, Koshi lost half of their side for 78 runs before Sidhant Pradhan and Surya bailed out the team with a 51-run six-wicket partnership.
Madhesh chose to bat first and set a target of 185 runs, getting all out in the last over while pushing for a bigger total with 46.2 overs gone. Mayan Yadav led the attack, scoring 52 off 66 with four fours and three sixes. Sahil Patel added 48 runs, with captain Abhishek Tiwari (23), Niraj Kumar Yadav (21), and Safwan Ali making valuable contributions with bat and ball this season. Koshi’s Bipin Mahato was the standout bowler, taking seven impressive wickets for 42 runs from his 9.2 overs, while Prem Kamat and Saujan Ghimire picked up two and one wickets, respectively.
In reply, Koshi Pradesh’s chase stumbled, managing only 163 runs in their allotted overs. The top scorers were Sonu Ansari with 39, Ashish Magar with 31 off 26, Bipin Mahato with 14, and Rabin Mandal with 10. Madhesh’s bowling attack dominated, as they bowled Bhaktapur out for 108 to register a comprehensive win. Affurdin Rain and Ranjit Kumar took three wickets, while Rajesh Yadav, captain Abhishek Tiwari, and Rohan Shah each contributed one.
This opening win gives Madhesh Pradesh quick momentum, showcasing their strength with both bat and ball. They aim for a deep run to clinch this year’s competition.
