Excitement Peaks as Buddhashanti and Mechinagar Dominate Jhapa league.

Bhadrapur, Jhapa: Buddhashanti Rural Municipality emerged victorious in the day’s first match of the Om Sai Pathivara Hospital First Inter-Municipal District League and Knockout Football Tournament, showcasing their dominance and skill in a thrilling display of football prowess. The match at the Mechi Stadium marked the beginning of the much-anticipated tournament, which aims to nurture young football talent in the region.

Babin Bohora, the match’s star, etched his name in the tournament’s history by securing an impressive four goals. His outstanding contribution saw him score goals in the 25th, 64th, 69th, and 72nd minutes, tying the tournament’s first hat-trick. Additionally, Paras Limbu added another goal in the 45th minute, contributing to the team’s remarkable victory.

Buddhashanti Rural Municipality asserted its dominance by overpowering Haldibari Rural Municipality with a convincing 5-0 win, marking the most significant goal difference in the ongoing league. 

In a parallel contest, Mechinagar Municipality emerged victorious by defeating Bhadrapur Municipality in the day’s second match. The matches unfolded at the Mechi Stadium as part of the Bhadrapur Jhapa Gold Cup, solidifying Buddhashanti and Mechinagar’s positions with three points each.

Ajay Rajbanshi’s goal in the second minute proved to be the decisive moment for Mechinagar, securing a crucial 1-0 victory over Bhadrapur Municipality. Simant Thapa of Mechinagar received the Player of the Match award for outstanding performance.

The ongoing competition, featuring 15 teams from 14 municipalities of Jhapa and the Bhadrapur Blazers team, aims to nurture young football talent in the region. 

The knockout stage will see the top two from each group competing for the title. A total of 80 lakh rupees is estimated to be spent to successfully organize and complete the competition, with the winner receiving a cash prize of 3 lakh, along with a trophy, medal, and certificate. The runner-up will not be left empty-handed, as they will be awarded 2 lakh in cash and a trophy, medal, and certification. Players excelling in individual categories, such as best goalkeeper, best coach, top scorer, and budding Player, will also be recognized and rewarded. The Player of the match for each game will receive a cash prize of Rs 2,000, adding to the excitement and motivation of the participating teams and players.
