Gouradaha and Shivasatakshi Municipalities emerged victorious in the Om Sai Pathivara Hospital First Inter-Municipal District Level Football League Tournament held in Bhadrapur, Jhapa.

Gouradah Edges Out Kankai

The match kicked off with an electrifying encounter between Gouradaha and Kankai Municipalities. Gouradaha stormed out of the gates, taking an early lead through Nabin Shrestha in the 10th minute. Shrestha continued his impressive performance, adding another goal in the 47th minute. Kushal Limbu also contributed to Gouradah’s tally with a goal in the 30th minute.

Kankai attempted a comeback, with Abhishek Rajbanshi and Saheb Murmu finding the back of the net in the 63rd and 67th minutes, respectively. However, Gouradaha’s defence held firm, securing a crucial 3-2 victory.

Shivasatakshi Downs Damak

In the second match, Shivasatakshi Municipality asserted dominance over Damak Municipality, securing a 2-0 victory. An own goal in the 11th minute gave Shivasatakshi an early advantage. Akash Poudel sealed the deal with a goal in the 53rd minute.

Poudel’s outstanding performance earned him the Player of the Match title. He was presented with a cash reward of 2000 and a trophy by Gold Cup President Dipesh Dhakal, Senior Vice President Aditya Parajuli, Mayor of Shivasatakshi Megahang Thopra, and Social Worker Jagdish Joshi.

Tournament Highlights

The Om Sai Pathivara Hospital First Inter-Municipal District Level League and Knockout Football Tournament is a testament to Jhapa’s passion for football. The tournament features 15 teams from 14 municipalities in Jhapa and the Bhadrapur Blazers team.

The competition is dedicated to nurturing young football talent in the region. General Secretary Jeevan Kumar Shrestha announced that the final match is scheduled for 18 days of intense competition.

The tournament’s schedule features diverse groups, promising an exciting journey to the knockout stage. 

The tournament’s organizers have spared no expense to ensure its success. The estimated expenditure of 80 lakh rupees underscores the grandeur and significance of this football spectacle.

Individual Awards

The tournament will also recognize individual brilliance. The Player of the Match for each game will receive Rs 2,000 in cash. Additionally, the best goalkeeper, coach, top scorer, and budding Player will be honoured with cash prizes, trophies, and medals.
