Arjundhara make spot in KO stage

 Arjundhara Municipality emerged victorious in the final match of the league stage during the Om Sai Pathivara Hospital First Inter-Municipal District Level Football Tournament in Bhadrapur, Jhapa.

With a decisive 2-0 win over Damak Municipality, Arjundhara secured their place in the knockout stage and showcased their dominance on the field. Notably, Damak Municipality became the only team to endure defeat in all three games of the ongoing tournament.

The day’s opening match featured Shivasatakshi and Kamal, with Kamal Rural Municipality facing a ban from participation. Consequently, Shivasatakshi secured three points and three goals directly, further solidifying their position in the tournament.

Within Group D, Shivasatakshi and Arjundhara accumulated an impressive 7 points with an equal goal difference. However, Arjundhara clinched the group victory based on their superior disciplinary record, receiving only one yellow card compared to Shivasatakshi’s two during the league stage matches.

Rajesh Dahal and Nikhil Tamang were the heroes of the match for Arjundhara, scoring crucial goals in the 64th and 73rd minutes, respectively. Their outstanding performance earned them a well-deserved victory and admiration from the crowd.

Badal Tamang of Arjundhara received the prestigious title of Player of the Match for his exceptional contributions throughout the game. His dedication and skill on the field were recognized with a cash prize 2000 and a trophy. Koshi State Assemblymember Bhumi Prasad Rajbanshi and other dignitaries presented the award.

With the conclusion of the league stage matches, Jeevan Kumar Shrestha, the General Secretary, announced the commencement of the knockout stage, which is set to kick off.

The first quarter-final will witness a thrilling clash between Buddhashanti Rural Municipality and Shivasatakshi Municipality, while the second quarter-final will feature Jhapa Rural Municipality against Bhadrapur Municipality. Anticipation for these matches is high, as both teams have demonstrated their determination to claim the coveted title.

The competition’s ultimate victor will be showered with accolades, including a cash prize of 3 lakhs, a trophy, a medal, and a certificate. The runner-up will also be rewarded handsomely, receiving 2 lakhs in cash, a trophy, an award, and a certificate.

To further incentivize exceptional performance, the Player of the Match in each game will receive a cash prize of Rs 2,000. Additionally, recognitions such as the best goalkeeper, best coach, top goal scorer, and budding Player will be rewarded with Rs 5,000 in cash and a trophy and medal.

The overall estimated expenditure for conducting the entire competition is projected to be 80 lakhs, a testament to the organizers’ commitment to fostering football talent and promoting the sport within the region.
