Pokhara Thunders Rise to Top of Nepal Super League

Pokhara, Nepal – December 6, 2023: In a nail-biting encounter at Dasharath Stadium on Wednesday, Pokhara Thunders clinched a crucial 1-0 victory over Sporting Ilam FC De Mechi, catapulting them to the top of the Nepal Super League (NSL) standings.

The decisive moment arrived early in the second half when Sanjeev Bista broke the deadlock with a well-placed shot, securing all three points for the Thunders. This triumph marked Pokhara’s third win in four matches, solidifying their position at the summit of the league table.

On the other hand, Sporting Ilam suffered their second consecutive defeat, dropping to seventh place with just three points. The first half remained scoreless, but the match was far from uneventful. Ilam missed a golden opportunity in the early minutes, and the game saw a brief interruption when a supporter entered the field.

The second half, however, belonged to Pokhara. Sanjeev’s goal breathed life into their attack, and despite Ilam’s attempts to equalize, the Thunders held firm, securing a vital victory.

With this win, Pokhara Thunders solidified their position as a force to be reckoned with in the NSL. Their journey to the top has been impressive, highlighted by previous victories against FC Chitwan and draws against Lalitpur City FC and Jhapa FC.

The Nepal Super League continues with another exciting clash on Thursday as FC Chitwan prepares to face Butwal Lumbini at 5 pm. The anticipation for this match is palpable as both teams strive for dominance in this fiercely competitive league.
