23rd Aaha Rara Pokhara Gold Cup: Anticipation Builds for January Clash

The 23rd edition of the prestigious Aaha Rara Pokhara Gold Cup, hosted by Sahara Club Pokhara at the iconic Pokhara Stadium, is set to kick off in the final week of January, and anticipation is already building for the exciting clash of titans.

Preparations Underway

The organizing committee started preparations for this highly anticipated event with a compelling press conference on Friday. Though the exact date has yet to be announced, the stage is set for a thrilling tournament featuring Nepal’s top ‘A’ division clubs, Super League contenders, international teams and organizer squads.

A Collective Ambition

Through this competition, the organizers expressed a shared ambition to elevate Pokhara into a prominent sports tourism city. They believe that by hosting such prestigious events, they can attract visitors and promote the city as a vibrant hub for sports and tourism.

Strong Supporter Base

The formidable Himshree Foods Pvt Ltd returns as the primary sponsor for this year’s event, joined by critical supporters like Pokhara Metropolitan City, National Sports Council (Rakhepa), Provincial Sports Council Gandaki, All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), and many others.

Financial Muscle and Beyond

Lumbini Development Bank joins the tournament as the official bank, while Buddha Air secures its position as the official airline.

But the impact of the Aaha Rara Pokhara Gold Cup extends far beyond the field. Funds generated from the event will be used to support noble causes, including free education, healthcare initiatives, and football training for underprivileged children associated with the Surya Bahadur KC Memorial Football Academy. This commendable initiative demonstrates the organizers’ commitment to social responsibility and community development.

Transforming Pokhara

The tournament aspires to transform Pokhara into a bustling sports hub, contributing to the city’s international recognition and fostering tourism growth. The echoes of Sankata Club’s victory in the last edition, defeating Bhutanese Youth Sports Club from Minnesota, USA, still resonate, setting the stage for another exhilarating chapter in the Aaha Rara Pokhara Gold Cup legacy.
