Dhangadhi Maintains Unbeaten Run played a 1-1 draw against defending champion Kathmandu.

Tripureshwar, Nepal: In a match that crackled with energy and showcased the best of Nepali football, Dhangadhi FC clung to their top spot in the Nepal Super League (NSL) after a thrilling 1-1 draw against former champions Kathmandu Razors at Dasharath Stadium.

Ahmad Hijaji opened the scoring for Dhangadhi early on, his flick in the 14th minute leaving Kathmandu goalkeeper Anjal Shrestha helpless. But the Razors roared back, with Oliver King rising high to head home Tojidinov Komiwon’s pinpoint cross in the 66th minute.

The battle was intense from the opening whistle. Afiz Olawale nearly put Dhangadhi ahead earlier, only to be denied by a stunning save from Shrestha. Prashant Awasthi almost levelled for Kathmandu minutes after Hijaji’s goal, but his effort sailed just wide.

Both defences stood firm as the game wore on. Dhangadhi goalkeeper Tikendra Thapa was a rock in their goal, pulling off crucial saves to deny Hishub Thapalia and Shokhrukh clear-cut chances for Kathmandu.

This high-octane encounter was a microcosm of the NSL’s second season – moments of brilliance, missed opportunities, and tactical chess matches. With more such nail-biting clashes on the horizon, football fans can rest assured that the entertainment value will only go up.
