Kathmandu Gears Up for the Grand Return of the KP Oli Cup

Kathmandu Valley is excited as the stage is set for the glorious return of the KP Oli Cup football tournament. Organized by the National Youth Federation Nepal, this year’s event promises a week-long spectacle of enthralling football, international camaraderie, and a powerful display of the sport’s unifying force among the Youth.

From February 23rd to March 2nd, football enthusiasts can revel in the clash of titans as Nepal’s ‘A’ division league clubs lock horns with formidable teams from India and Bhutan. This exciting addition to the tournament elevates the competition beyond mere bragging rights, with the coveted title awarding a substantial 11 lakh rupees to the winning team and a handsome 5 lakh rupees to the runner-up.

However, the KP Oli Cup transcends the allure of trophies and prize money. Kshitij Thebe, President of the National Youth Federation, aptly captures the essence of the tournament as a platform to connect with the Youth through their shared passion for football. It’s a celebration of sportsmanship, a beacon of inspiration, and a testament to sports’ positive impact on society – a sentiment echoed by Mahesh Basnet, head of the Youth Federation.

Those who witnessed the electrifying atmosphere of last year’s inaugural tournament know what to expect: an even more thrilling spectacle filled with rising stars and established veterans gracing the pitch. Mark your calendars for the battle to the finals at Chyasal Stadium, culminating in the grand finale at the iconic Dasharath Stadium.
