Nepal’s Cricket Team Continues Streak with Win Over Saudi

On Wednesday, the unstoppable Nepal team powered their way into the ACC Premier Cup semi-finals, marking a momentous occasion with a decisive six-wicket triumph over Saudi Arabia at the Al Amrat Cricket Ground in Oman. This victory, their fourth in a row in the tournament, cements their standing as formidable contenders for the title.

Chasing a modest target of 74 runs set by the Saudis, Nepal sailed to victory with a collective effort. Gulshan Jha led the charge with an unbeaten 32 runs, while captain Rohit Kumar Poudel (17* runs) and Dipendra Singh Airee (17 runs) made significant contributions, showcasing the unity and strength of the Nepali team.

Saudi Arabia’s bowling attack, led by Istiq Ahmed’s two wickets, failed to create significant pressure. Usman Najib and Wazi Al Hasan managed a solitary wicket each, but it proved insufficient to halt the Nepali juggernaut.

Earlier, Saudi Arabia’s batting faltered under the Nepali bowling attack. Openers struggled to find footing, and only Abdul Waheed (37 runs) scored well. Avinash Bohra and Karan KC were the pick of the Nepali bowlers, claiming two wickets apiece. Pratish GC and Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi chipped in with a wicket each, restricting the Saudis to a meagre 73 runs.

This victory extends Nepal’s winning streak in the tournament to four, having previously defeated Malaysia, Qatar, and Hong Kong. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia’s campaign ended with mixed results, including a win against Hong Kong and losses to Malaysia and Qatar.

The stage is set for an exciting semi-final clash as Nepal gears up to face its next opponent. The team aims to continue its dominance and lift the ACC Premier Cup trophy.
