Nepali Football Squad Sets Sail for UK Friendlies

The Nepali national football team got a hero’s send-off on Monday as they prepared for a thrilling two-match adventure in the UK. The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) hosted a stirring farewell ceremony, officially kicking off their overseas odyssey, which holds immense significance for the team and the nation.

The Gorkhalis are set for a mouthwatering clash against England’s ‘C’ team on May 6th at the prestigious IBB Stadium, home to Aldershot Town FC. But the excitement doesn’t stop there. Nepal will also lock horns with the British Army team on May 3rd, adding another intrigue to their international venture.

The farewell ceremony was graced by Nepali football and British dignitaries. British Ambassador to Nepal, Robert Fenn, alongside top brass from ANFA, including President Pankaj Bikram Nembang, underscored the occasion’s significance.

Head Coach Vincenzo Alberto Enes unveiled a dynamic 23-man squad, with the experienced Kiran Kumar Limbu donning the captain’s armband. Midfield maestro Fateman Ghale earned a well-deserved call-up, marking his international debut. Despite the absence of veteran defender Anant Tamang due to injury, the team stands strong, a testament to their resilience and determination.

Despite the setback, Nepal boasts a formidable lineup. Stalwarts like goalkeepers Kiran Limbu, Abhishek Baral, and Bishal Sunar will provide a solid foundation at the back, shielded by defensive rocks Tshiring Lama, Sanish Shrestha, and Abhishek Limbu. The midfield engine room gets a boost by including Ghale alongside Manikumar Lama and Bharat Khawas. Dinesh Henjan, Anjan Bisht, and Gillespijung Karki promise an attacking threat, ready to showcase their skills on the world stage.
