Koshi Prevails: Defeats Lalitpur Mayor-11 in Women’s Twenty20 Clash

In a nail-biting finish at the TU Cricket Ground, the Koshi Wolverines roared to their first-ever win in the Lalitpur Mayor’s Cup National Women’s Twenty20 tournament. Their maiden victory came against the Lalitpur Mayor-11 in a pulsating encounter, where they chased down a modest target of 89 runs with six wickets to spare in the final match of the league stage.

This gritty win puts Koshi on the board with two crucial points, marking a monumental achievement for the team. While Lalitpur’s valiant effort earned them two points, their tournament journey has ended.

Koshi’s chase was anchored by the rock-solid Kajal Shrestha, who remained unbeaten on a classy 36. Tika Shah provided support with a vital knock of 25 runs as the duo stitched together a match-winning partnership of 56 runs for the second wicket.

Lalitpur’s bowlers, led by Kirtika Marasini’s three-wicket haul, tried their best to restrict Koshi. However, Koshi skipper Apsari Begum stole the show with a stellar bowling performance, claiming three crucial wickets. Alisha Khadia, Sabnam Rai, and Hiranmayi Roy chipped in with a wicket to dismantle the Lalitpur batting order.

Earlier, Lalitpur opted to bat first after winning the toss, but their innings faltered under Koshi’s relentless bowling attack. They could only manage 88 runs on the board, losing nine wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Asma Pulami Magar and Kiran Kunwar top-scored with knocks of 26 and 13 runs, respectively. Still, the rest of the Lalitpur batting line-up failed to capitalize, with none of the other batsmen reaching double digits.

The Lalitpur Mayor’s Cup continues to enthral fans with another thrilling encounter on Thursday, where APF edged past Sudurpaschim Province in a close contest decided by just three wickets.
