Bellingham proved himself beyond doubt, soaring top in the box to connect a header with Bukayo Saka’s cross diverted off its course by a defender in the 13th minute. With his perfect header, and that alone counted for the goal of the match while England remained solid in defence to secure the match victory.

This means England stands well to be counted among the GROUP C top teams after this match, while Serbia has a mountain to climb after a below-par start.

In the other Group C fixture, the Scandinavian nation of Denmark played out a 1-1 draw with Slovenia. Erik Janja equalized for Slovenia in the match, making it 1 – 1 for both sides as each started their campaign.
