Netherlands and USA Advance to Round of 16 at FIFA Women’s World Cup

The Netherlands and the United States have advanced to the Round of 16 at the FIFA Women’s World Cup, finishing first and second in Group E, respectively.
On Tuesday, the Netherlands secured the top spot in the group with a dominant 7-0 victory over Vietnam. Jill Roord and Esme Brugts each scored two goals for the Dutch, while Daniel van de Donk, Katja Snoeijer, and Lieke Martens also found the net.

The United States, meanwhile, secured second place with a goalless draw against Portugal. The Americans had already qualified for the knockout stage before the match, but the draw ensured they would finish above Portugal in the group standings.
The Netherlands and the United States will both be seeded in the Round of 16 draw, which will take place on Thursday. The two teams could meet in the quarterfinals.
