Paras Khadka Elected President of Bagmati Provincial Cricket Association


Kathmandu, Nepal – Former Nepal national cricket team captain Paras Khadka was elected president of the Bagmati Provincial Cricket Association (BPCA) on Friday.
Khadka defeated his rival, Umesh Piya, by a margin of nine votes, 23-14. The new 13-member working committee was also elected, with Prem Bahadur Chhetri as vice president, Prashanna Shakya as secretary, and Sanjay Basnet as treasurer.
The other newly elected members of the working committee are Ajaybir Pandey, Anil Adhikari, Sanjog Shrestha, Sujan Maharjan, Dheeraj Shrestha, Shekhar Shrestha, Basantraj Satyal, Nira Rajopadhyay.
The election was held at the BPCA’s second session and general assembly, attended by representatives from six districts and 13 members of the outgoing working committee. A total of 37 votes were cast.


Khadka’s election is a significant boost for Nepali cricket. He is a highly respected figure in the sport and is seen as a potential future Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) governing head.
The CAN elections are scheduled for the first week of ashoj. Before that, the elections of 45 districts and seven provinces have been completed.
In the other provincial elections, Sarbajit Pandey won in Koshi, Sunil Mahaseth in Madhesh, Sanjay Kant Singdel in Gandaki, Sanjay Gurung in Lumbini, Basudev Joshi in Far West, and Padma Bahadur Khadka in Karnali.
The CAN elections are expected to be hotly contested, with several candidates vying for the top job. Khadka’s victory in the BPCA elections is a good sign for his chances of participation in the upcoming CAN election.
