Nepal Cruises to Victory over Qatar to Secure Semi-Final Spot

In the ICC Women’s Twenty20 World Cup Asia Zone Qualifier, Nepal won by nine wickets against Qatar.

Group ‘A’ Nepal secured their place in the semi-finals with eight points, with their fourth win in a row. Earlier, Nepal defeated the home team, Malaysia, by five runs, Bahrain by 10 wickets and Bhutan by three wickets.

Defeated in all four matches, Qatar is at the bottom without any points. Earlier, Qatar lost to Bahrain by five wickets, Bhutan by eight wickets and UAE by 51 runs.

Nepal lost only one wicket in 10.3 overs to reach the target of 75 runs presented by Qatar at the UKM YSD Oval stadium in Malaysia on Monday.

For Nepal, Kajal Shrestha scored 32, Indu Barma scored 20 not out, and Sita Rana Magar scored 17 not out. Kajal and Sita shared 47 runs for the first wicket.

Sabeeja Panayan took the only wicket for Qatar.

After losing the toss and being invited to bat, Qatar lost seven wickets in the scheduled 20 overs and made 75 runs.

For Qatar, Sachi Dhadwal scored 21 runs, Aleena Khan scored 15 runs, Angeline Mare scored 14 unbeaten runs, and captain Aysha scored 10 runs.

Indu Barma took three wickets for Nepal, and Pooja Mahato and Kavita Joshi took one wicket each.

Nepal will face UAE in the final match of the group stage on Wednesday.
