Nepal and Myanmar Draw in FIFA Friendly
The first FIFA international friendly match between Nepal and Myanmar ended in a goalless draw on Friday at Thuunna Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar.
Nepal had a chance to take the lead in the 58th minute when they were awarded a penalty after a Myanmar player blocked Anjan Bista’s shot with his hand. However, Bista missed the penalty, sending his shot over the crossbar.
Bista’s miss was an ample opportunity for the Nepali striker, who is currently tied for the most goals scored for Nepal with 13 goals. Hari Khadka and Nirajan Rayamajhi hold the record.
Despite the missed penalty, Nepal created several other chances to score, but they could not find the back of the net. Myanmar also had their chances, but the Nepali defence also denied them.
The draw was a fair result, as both teams played well. Nepal will be looking to build on this performance in their next friendly against Myanmar on Monday.
Two Nepali Players Make International Debuts
Two Nepali players made their international debuts against Myanmar. Gillespie Jung Karki got a chance in the starting lineup, while Hishub Thapalia entered the field as a substitute in the second half.
Karki plays professional football for the departmental team Tribhuvan Army, while Thapalia represents Jawalakhel.
The two players positively made their debuts, and they hope to continue to impress in the coming matches.
