Morata double helps Atlético to a comfortable victory
Álvaro Morata scored two goals as Atlético Madrid beat Real Madrid 3-1 in the Madrid derby on Saturday.
Atlético were the better side for most of the match and took a 2-0 lead in the first half thanks to Morata and Antoine Griezmann headers.
Real Madrid pulled a goal back through Toni Kroos in the second half, but Morata restored Atlético’s two-goal advantage with a third goal.
The victory lifts Atlético to fifth place in the La Liga table, while Real Madrid remain in third place.
