In a significant signing announcement, Lalitpur City FC has secured the services of national football team defender Ananta Tamang as their marquee player for the upcoming second edition of the Nepal Super League (NSL).
The club made the exciting revelation in an official statement released on Thursday, confirming that Anant Tamang is set to be their star player for the season.
Ananta’s leadership skills are well-documented, as he captained Church Boys United to victory in the Shahid Smarak ‘A’ Division League during their debut season. He led his team to success and earned the title of the league’s best player, a testament to his exceptional talent and dedication.
Ananta Tamang boasts the distinction of being the first player to grace India’s top-tier Indian Super League (ISL), further underscoring his prowess on the field. Last season, the marquee player for Lalitpur was Anjan Bista, but this time, the spotlight shines on Ananta.


The anticipation is building as the Nepal Super League gears up for its second edition, with the opening match featuring Kathmandu Razors and Sporting Ilam FC scheduled for November 24th. The grand finale will occur on December 30th, promising a thrilling tournament ahead.
It’s worth noting that Nepal Sports and Event Management Pvt Ltd had initially selected players for ten teams. Still, due to unforeseen circumstances, including many draft players relocating abroad, an auction will be held again on September 30th. Additionally, the withdrawal of Biratnagar City FC from the competition has led to the participation of nine teams this season.
The lineup for the second edition of NSL includes the six teams from the previous season – Kathmandu, Dhangadhi FC, FC Chitwan, Pokhara Thunders, Lalitpur City FC, and Bootball LumbinThere the newcomers Ilam FC, Birgunj United FC, and Jhapa FC, promising fierce competition and exciting football action for fans and enthusiasts alike.
