On Thursday, New Zealand got off to a flying start in the ICC ODI World Cup, defeating England by nine wickets in the opening match at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad, India.
Inspired by the excellent batting of Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra, New Zealand chased England’s target of 283 runs in just 36.2 overs, losing only one wicket.
Conway scored an unbeaten 152 off 121 balls, while Ravindra remained unbeaten on 122 off 96 balls. The two put on an unbeaten 273-run partnership for the second wicket, the highest partnership for any wicket in a World Cup match.

Conway’s knock was laced with 19 fours and three sixes, while Ravindra’s innings included 11 fours and five sixes.
Earlier, England were bowled out for 282 in 50 overs after losing the toss and being invited to bat. Joe Root top-scored for England with 77, while skipper Jos Buttler made 43.
New Zealand bowlers Matt Henry, Mitchell Santner, and Glenn Phillips picked up two wickets each, while Trent Boult and Rachin Ravindra got one wicket each.
